Greece, II

Sara thought it was really funny to cover me in rocks... this is also me swimming in my underwear because I am an IDIOT and forgot to bring my bathing suit to Greece. Jeeze, Ledah.

The compulsory shot of the Acropolis.

Aegina, the first island we went to.

Everyone oiling the sandals we got from the "Poet Sandalmaker."

Sara and me playing backgammon, which is a lot of what we did over break. Final score: Sara 6, Ledah 2. Pathetic, I know. We bet a home-made card sent by loser to winner, so I guess I should start working on that...

Unfortunately, my camera battery died while we were on the ferry to Paros, the second island trip we made. Zach and Ellen both have photos, though, so I'll post those when I get them from one of them folks. I think I can safely say, though, that Paros is one of the most wonderful places I have ever been. Beautiful hills, beautiful beaches, white-washed buildings with bright blue shutters, goats in pastures... so quintessentially Greek, and so lovely. I didn't want to leave. In fact, I'm still a little cranky that I had to.
Being back in Prague is alright, though. I do like this city for many reasons. After being on Paros and feeling such calm and peace there, however, I realized that I don't really feel a connection to Prague as a physical place, as an entity unto itself and as a being, almost, that knows me and that I interact with on a non-verbal level. This is the feeling I get in Montana, that I grew to have in Chicago, that I get in Middletown sometimes (although not as much as other places). I had it almost instantaneously on Paros, and it was very difficult to leave. Who knows, maybe it will still develop with Prague... I certainly hope so.

I'm volunteering for the Mezipatra Film Festival next week as a "foreign guest guide." From what I can tell, that means I get to lead people associated with the festival around the city, meet them at the airport and guide them to their hotels, etc. I'm pretty excited. It also gets me a free pass to the festival/festival events, which is pretty sweet. Maybe I'll make some great connections or something... but probably it will just be fun.
