Apologies for the obsessive election posting
Today is better. Here is why:
1. The democrats.
a) John Tester
b) Nancy Pelosi
c) GO PEOPLE OF MONTANA!
2. Rumsfeld's resignation. Yes, Ledah, there is a Santa Clause...
3. A really lovely letter from my dear Gram, written on a typewriter, which just makes it even better.
4. A really lovely, smart email from my papa regarding GLBT rights.
5. The prospect of seeing Hedwig and the Angry Inch at the Mezipatra film festival tonight
6. London this weekend!
a) bookstores where everything is in English
b) The Tate Modern, which has a SLIDE exhibit
c) Rock and Roll, Tom Stoppard's new play which is about Prague/Vaclav Havel/other dissidents/Charter 77 type business AND is a musical
d) hanging out with Theresa, of course.
7. I am in an internet cafe, and a few minutes ago "killing me softly" (Wyclef and Lauren Hill version) came on the radio and a bunch of people in the cafe started singing along
8. Having conducted several exchanges entirely in Czech in the past few days
9. Finished "For Whom the Bell Tolls," officially worshipping Hemingway again.
10. it is rainy but pretty-type-rainy and not too cold
11. I like lists

2 Comments:
apparently, Hemingway wrote the ending over a hundred times to try to get it right.
Hey Ledah, it's Erin Ecklund from Camp. The best compliment I've ever received: My first little fling from freshmen year of college told me I reminded him of Lady Brett Ashley from The Sun Also Rises. I almost died I was so delighted!...Even though in a lot of ways it's not necessarily a compliment...but anywho, the Ecklunds are bicoastally supporting GLBT rights in every way we can! My brother came out last year, I said "Congratulations!" : )
